Glossy Blog :: Dressed to Kilt, A Highland Fling

The northern lights shone bright in New York City as Scotland's stars and luminaries descended on St John the Divine Cathedral for 'Dressed to Kilt', a charity fund raiser that benefits 'Friends of Scotland'. Celebrity models joined Sir Sean & Lady Connery in a celebration of Scottish fashion past and present and while the fashion show was probably the 'longest ever' it was all in good fun and there was plenty of Johnnie Walker to keep the sprits high. more...
Glossy Blog :: John Varvatos, High School Reunion

John Varvatos celebrated the launch of a new Converse Clothing Collection with a high school reunion, bringing to the stage his old high school friends David Johanson and the New York Dolls. Hosted at Xavier High School the fashion presentation was over in a flash - a little too fast for serious appraisal - but the party was just beginning. more...
20 Pine: The Collection Party

What do you do when you want to entice potential clients to purchase million dollar apartments in lower Manhattan? Not just any million dollar apartment, but designed by the Armani Casa team? You have an open house/party with Grammy Award winning artist, John Legend and an open bar.
Last Thursday, a couple of us who are not in the market for a new casa, ventured south to the 20 Pine: The Collection Party. Think of an upper crust Sex in the City crowd in a sexy Armani show room with John Legend playing piano and singing in the background. With Italian suits, Iranian pearls and fancy accents all about the room, we reminded ourselves that we were "press" and with a little bit of liquid courage and ego... we found ourselves standing right in front of Mr. Legend's piano. As he sang his hit song "Ordinary People" the crowd cheered (clearly the only song they knew of his) and all the girls whispered to each other, "God, he?¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚Äö?묢s handsome!".
Although we might have been the only ordinary people in a room full of brokers and buyers we were quite impressed by the details and design of the soon to open luxury condominium. more...

Szarkowski attends last powerHouse Books event at 68 Charlton Street

After more than two years in residence as the most innovative and lively photography gallery, event space, and bookstore in downtown Manhattan, powerHouse Books is being kicked out of its lovingly built home at 68 Charlton Street by catering/restaurant evildoers.
We took time out of finishing our fashion week coverage to attend the event and to support powerHouse. Check out their blog with news of the move. check out powerHouse Books
Blogging Is The New Black : A GLAM.com Panel Discussion

GLAM.com's boss, Samir Arora, and blogger The Sartorialist leading a very welcome panel discussion on fashion and blogging.
A range of bloggers and industry professionals discussed the impact of blogging on fashion: it's democratization effect and the fact that we can all keep up-to-date in ways we never could. We call the democratization effect 'tools not rules' at ZOOZOOM. We believe we should choose fashion and be inspired by it, not let it dictate to us. Also, as you'll see in our 'Doing It' campaign over the next few months, we also reach the places other fashion magazines may not.
Thank you GLAM.com.
