In 1932, at age 9, Herman Leonard witnessed an image being developed by his brother and became enthralled with photography; at age 85 he still is. He apprenticed with Yousuf Karsh in the late '40s. In 1948 he opened his own studio in Greenwich Village and got into the jazz scene. In the 50s Herman headed for Paris, the 'City of Light'; still photographing the jazz scene, but working in fashion and advertising and for Playboy Magazine. View fullscreen feature.
