In an effort to position himself within the more high brow tier of the fashion caste system, Max Azria designed a runway collection to breakout from his mass-market line and designed for a more high couture woman. However, I am afraid to say that she just might have better luck finding something she loves within his commercial line next season. The concept was strong, a casual layered look that most women could wear in muted teals, burgundy and olive colors. Thick high wasted belts cinched in long coats and dresses and thin wool tights and turtlenecks could be found hidden beneath layers of excess fabric. With so much extra fabric hanging in the front of some of the dresses, I was curious to know if this collection moonlights as maternity wear. Although I loved the solid mini turtleneck dresses, I could not help but wonder why Mr. Azria paired the dress with matching tights in the exact same material. Being a huge fan of Max Azria, I must say that I walked into the show with high expectations and walked out a little disappointed. [Meghan Casey] more...
