The James Coviello Fall 2006 collection, inspired by 20th century England, has me dreaming of fall in New York...already! I should be looking forward to the spring collections, and maybe if I had seen his Spring 2006 show back in September I would be, but so far his collection has me excited for what's to come in 2006.
A creamy palette of mauve, plum, fern and jewel tones referenced the colors found in the English countryside. Silk chiffon blouses and knit tops had bits of lace and hand embroidered floral patterns to give the look a vintage feel. When paired with tweed and herringbone skirts and shorts the models looked as though they were off to the moors. Paired together with hand crocheted knits with a hint of metallic sheen, the dresses looked perfect for any fall soiree. The entire collection was extremely wearable; colors and textures kept the feel more feminine rather than flirty and each look could be broken down to fit any outing. I picture women of all ages walking through Central Park in October just when the leaves begin to change, dressed in Mr. Coviello's creations and looking perfect for the occasion.
