Always the king of understated cool, John Varvatos presented a beautifully rich and wearable collection of menswear to eager viewers on Friday night. While there were some nostalgic looks, referencing Brit newsboys and French countrymen, the collection held a strong foundation in the structure and fabrication of its pieces. Tweeds, wools, and aged leathers made surprise appearances and combinations; knits were mixed with leather, hardware was seen in sweaters, bombers were placed under suit jackets. Hand dyed silk scarves evoked romanticism as they were freely draped around the models necks. A neutral tone was complimented with deep browns and smoky grays.
