You may have an image of Africa as an AIDs ridden continent buckling under debt, poverty, civil war and brutal dictators. Its not always been perceived that way. There was a time as recently as the 70's when Africa was blossoming, the future looked bright, new hotels, roads, hospitals and a modern economic infrastructure were being constructed.

Scott Harrison visited the Hotel Ducor in Monrovia, Liberia. This once luxurious hotel is now home to thousands of squatters who became displaced during the fierce factional fighting that ravaged the country for many years.
