The Telephones

Jesse Adelman the guitar playing, song-writing front man of The Telephones describes the band thus: "I've used 'a bar band for thinking drinkers' in the past. The alleged genre distinction 'intellipop' makes me smile, or wince, depending on the publication.... 'indie rock' has occasionally been applied, and 'roots rock' has even been used, although the term has now come to connote 'country' music, which we certainly do not purvey."

But the best insight into the mind of Jesse Adelman comes in his answer to our first question, regarding recent projects.

"We've just completed our first full-length record, entitled "Fight Night at Rodeo Dodo." The next step is to break up. I'm working on my solo project, it's a jazz dance about the last five minutes of Michael Hutchence's life." more...
