Perhaps it's old news that capes are no longer just for Batman and Superman but the question still remains as to what sort of Super Hero style you feel like adopting. Young and sprightly APRIL, MAY designer Diane Goldstein's navy cape with embellished collar brings femininity to the military motif. Established in 2005, APRIL, MAY is named for the respective birth months of Diane and her partner in life and business, Yohan. Its designs amalgamate Parisian and Los Angeles flavors.

Sexy Panties and Naughty Knickers designer Pom Lampson is most proud of her undies' cross-generational appeal. This unassuming Brit says she is inspired by 1930's lingerie, and with no formal design training she set out to produce beautiful, comfortable knickers in natural fabrics, launching Sexy Panties and Naughty Knickers in Europe in 2004. She's now sailed over on a sea of satin to launch her knickers and bras in the US market, with celebrity support along the way - Desperate Housewives just ordered a bunch for the show. Here's a warm thought for the straight girls - Orlando Bloom wears the men's boxers.

Mel en Stel is not meant to be glamorous or luxurious. It's meant to be tough like the old war materials Ilse Eriksson (the Mel en Stel designer) once used in a few art fashion pieces. It's supposed to be a little earthy, a little rugged, a little barefoot like the Belgian brains behind this grounded one-woman clothing operation. It's meant to be a product of dissecting and loving shape and fabric (and dealing with the logistics of realizing such affection.)
