Zero + The Luddite featuring Zero by Maria Cornejo

I've always been a sucker for the romantic side of things, frills, victorian lace, and all the other sort of otherworldly turn-of-the-century things Luddites collect, nostalgic for a life they never lived.
That's why my love of Chilean-born, English-reared Maria Cornejo is so steadfast. What her line, Zero + Maria Cornejo offers is anything but nostalgic. It challenges my aesthetic habits. Cornejo's clothing illusrates a reimagined present with a tangible sense of a time when humans lived in nature. Zero by Maria Cornejo Fashion Show :: Fall 2008 featuring Zero by Maria Cornejo

Zero by Maria Cornejo's ability to balance artistic intentions, consideration for women's bodies, and wearability, is uncanny. Ms. Cornejo's sublime intellect is the motivating force behind this expressive brand where she has carved a niche for herself showing coherent and smart fashion. Through examining the fluid nature of our identities, we find that infinite ideas and forward change become possible more...
New York Fashion Week Fall 2007:: Zero Maria Cornejo featuring Zero by Maria Cornejo

My favorite look on the runway was a sleek, satin trench with a draped silk georgette dress with banded bodice. It had that head turning, downtown New York vibe that looked relaxed yet highly stylized. [Kelley Quan] more...
New York Fashion Week Spring 2007 :: Zero by Maria Cornejo featuring Zero by Maria Cornejo

Maria Cornejo's calm demeanor was reflected at the Zero Spring 07 presentation at the Bumble & Bumble space in the meatpacking district. This collection reminded me of why it is good to edit down, abbreviate our wardrobe to achieve maximum effect. Ms. Cornejo shows us that simple really is better and I congratulate her on her recent win of the F.I.T. Award. [Kelley Quan] more...
