Here?¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚Äö?묢s a fashion cocktail for you: Take two designers from polar opposite locations on the globe, put them together in New York?¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚Äö?묢s fashion center and see what happens. Asymmetrical shifts with contrasting inserts that Vicky Anderson from The Thomas Crowne Affair (the ?¬¢‚Äö?ᬮ‚Äö?묢68 version, that is!) would have been proud to wear, full wool gabardine boyfriend pants, with a simple black tank, long full Quadrophenia-style parkas with slender pant all work. This latest collection was again inspiring to see and made me want to join the club, if only so I could look like one of those laissez-faire, downtown types who look cool as a cucumber doing absolutely anything. Designers Julia Jentzsch and Waleed Khaivzada of Naum presented an impressive collection for Spring '07. The fabrics of silk organza, batiste cottons and voile offered us a newer perspective to Spring. Just because the mercury is rising doesn't mean you need to strip down in order to feel cool. Asymetrical silk organza pleated aprons in the palest of azure adorned crisp white cotton skirts creating a perfect fashion confection rather than a fabric overload. [Kelley Quan] more...
