The Grace of Grace featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

Punk was a rebellion against the man. Back to Noise is a label dedicated to rebellion against the status quo, the armed masses of boring clothes, and ageist fashion that so often leaves no alternative of 'young' and 'mature' (a.k.a. emotionless) garments.
During a time when there is still so very much to rebel against, (despite the optimistic outcome of recent American elections), ZOOZOOM celebrates Back to Noise, a collection that captures the past zeitgeist of post-punk and Grace Jones with long leathery strips, mesh tops, and python everything, yet maintains the elegance required for those of us in our post-angst years. Get hip to the resurgence of over-the-top eighties inspired fashion (with the much-needed subtlety that avoids the fate of cliche.) View fullscreen feature.

The Business of Opulence featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

Oh Wall Street... I wonder if it's still fun to tap the gavel at the market's close nowadays, when people are using words like 'plunging' and recession like they are going out of style. Yet through its tragic downs (and glorious ups) Wall Street has managed to maintain its culture (whether you like it or not). Its Art Deco architecture, and also its extravagant 'Gilded Age' structures. In celebration of that opulence, here are photographs of some decadent looks in decadent settings. Rebel Rebel featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

Traditions are the guideposts driven deep in our subconscious minds. The most powerful ones are those we can't even describe, aren't even aware of. - Ellen Goodman, American Journalist
The jacket you keep from ninth grade until your first days in the office, and the suit you wear from the first days out of school until you can't even remember your formative years: this is the stuff American sportswear is made of.
Fashion is about newness, about current energy, about rising technologies, and most of all about change; but like any designer will tell you, certain themes will carry from one season to the next, becoming staples that underlie an identity that isn't only about changing, but also about preserving core values: in this case practicality, American independence, and the role of female designers.view fullscreen feature

Light and Magic featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

Dreamy black silhouettes backlit by fluorescent lights. Childlike sounds that somehow seem menacing. Two girls similar but not identical. Two boys tinkering with ancient instruments and shoegazer riffs. The color black everywhere. The "electronic rock" band Ladytron has a solid innocence underlined by darkness; somehow they portray angst sophisticatedly in their music and their look consistently. view fullscreen feature

Black Tie Optional featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

Black Tie Optional
'...people must be very distinguished to look well in black...' -Edward Bulwer-Lyttonn, 1828
One of our favorite (and omnipresent) trends on the Fall 2008 catwalk was menswear(ish) pieces for the girls, specifically, plays on the formal dress, such as the tuxedo and its sharp lapels.
The tuxedo was born in the 1920s; it was a double-breasted reincarnation of the 1880s dinner jacket tailored to the tastes of then Prince of Wales. When the fashion traveled from Europe to America, it landed in Tuxedo Park, the millionaire playground of New York, where the new double-breasted formal wear was sported at small dinner parties. Pierre Lorillard popularized the tailless dinner jacket and named it the 'tuxedo' at an autumn ball. more...

Eyes Like Laura Mars featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

There's something slippery about Chris Han's Fall 2008 collection.
It's not really evening wear, and its not really day wear; to blur the categorical lines even further, Han gives floor-length skirts industrial details. She turns tulle gothic.
Feminine fabrics with blood red lips and black nail polish stir up memories of Laura Mars portrayed by Faye Dunaway. Like the film and its characters, the collection uses devices of femininity to portray darkness. It's a sexy darkness, but it's still dark. Matched with short leather gloves, and Transylvanian makeup (as Han chose to during the collection's unveiling at New York Fashion Week), the collection in its highly stylized context brings out the beauty... and the beast.more...

Posh & Gloss featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

The Twenties have often been cited as the era of inception of today's popular culture. Perhaps it is why we stubbornly continue to reference the style of the times. Or perhaps it's our identification with the roaring age that was "...anxious to enjoy itself, anxious to forget the past, anxious to ignore the future."* No matter, the reason, Gilded romanticism never seems to fade, and today's fashion designers continue to modernize its essence with garments that allow us to reflect our own light in big or small ways. more...

The Bloomsbury Set featuring Giuseppe Zanotti

Take care of the luxuries and the necessities will take care of themselves.
So said Dorothy Parker, an admirer of the Bloomsbury Set. Of course today a pair Louboutin shoes is as much a necessity as a luxury! If you want to find a little London Bohemia try mixing patterns (stripes with flowers are a good choice), play with plenty of delicate layers and add a decadent abundance of jewelry.
