My boss, a lady of the paperless, Kelley Quan, summarized it perfectly in her Twitter; 'a blend of sugary confections and seventies hipster. Sorbet colors, and a few signature bows.' At first I wasn't sure what to make of the pajama-esque cloud pants and cotton candy-colored short shorts. Then it dawned on me that American fashion is always about comfort. In an interview I recently read, in which cab drivers discuss the trends they love and despise, three mentions of jean-wearing girls were included. We're casual, people! That's why the big design houses who know how to license their take on American Sportswear remain on top (our favorite being Ralph Lauren). It's because they understand and embrace their American identity, which is exactly what Fetherston did this season. more...
